Summertime is river Havel-time!
In Potsdam the world heritage, the rewarding founts of knowledge as well as the royal broad-mindedness unite. Potsdam´s motto “Insel großer Gedanken” (Isle of inspiration) describes not only the philosophical idea but also the geographical situation. The river Havel, the lakes Großer Zernsee and Templiner See as well as the channel Sacrow-Paretzer Kanal surround Potsdam and make Brandenburg´s capital an island.
Where to spend the summer more relaxed than at, in or on the water?! The river Havel and its lakes always accompany the city break in Potsdam. The lidos of the town are embedded in the picturesque panorama of the palaces and gardens and are situated within easy reach from the city centre by bike. Numerous bathing places in the countryside invite for a refreshing stop on a bike or walking tour.
